Thursday we left for our trip to Iowa. Nathan and Kirsi went up with Grandma and Grandpa early Thursday morning. Jamie and I left Thursday afternoon. It was a very nice drive up. Jamie and I had six hours ALONE to visit on the way. The Iowa sunset was gorgeous! I got these shots from the car . These photos don't really do the sunset justice. It really was amazing...
Friday, July 4th, we went to a picnic put on by Debbie and Clark's ward. The weather was perfect. That night the kids watched the neighbors shoot off fireworks, then we all piled into two cars and tried to track down a firework show put on by a nearby town. We found one and watched from a distance. The highlight of the night was the sparklers and popsicles though.

Kirsi, Chris, and Matthew had a lot of fun frosting sugar cookies for Chris' baptism refreshments. Didn't they do an awesome job? They really did do them all by themselves. I was impressed.
Is Kirsi giddy from too many sugar cookies after the baptism? No, just being her usual silly self...Look at that tooth!
Nathan loves his new cousin. He took every chance he could get to hold him.
We also went out to dinner, went bowling and the kids swam a lot while we were in Iowa. We had a great time!
On our drive home, we stopped in Kansas City and had dinner with LeeAnne, Brad and the kids. The chili, cornbread and brownies sundaes were awesome, LeeAnne! Thanks so much! Thanks to the Heathmans we made it home without breaking the Sabbath. We didn't have to stop for gas or food. It was actually one of the more quiet and pleasant Sundays we've had.
